How to pronounce the word Ajaw

The Maya word today in the Kaqchikel language is Jun Ajpub’.

These are people who are courageous, honest, strong and kind. They are often leaders as they are great problem-solvers. They make great artists, musicians, singers, writers and leaders.

The earliest evidence we have of a ruler comes from San Bartolo, where Dr Diane carried out her research. On the murals there is a depiction of a king and although the writing next to it can’t be read the final glyph can and this is a variant of the word Ajaw – ruler!
