Earth Day – 22nd April
Dedicated to raising awareness about the various environmental challenges facing our planet. The theme this year is Invest In Our Planet – a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life.
The Maya lived in the rainforest in their millions for over 1000 years and were such a great example of being careful with your environment. In the heart of the rainforest, there is no natural water so they relied on rainwater. Tikal, one of the greatest Maya cities had a population of 60,000 at its peak and built reservoirs to contain the water.
