New Maya Rainforest Resources
The Maya rainforest webpages provide teaching resources and information appropriate for the KS2 history and geography curriculum or Grades 2-7 in the US. Introducing the Maya rainforest, which stretches across Guatemala, Mexico, and Belize and is one of the largest tropical forests in the Americas. The resources include downloadable teaching materials, lesson plans, and class activities.
Wildlife Pages
Dedicated pages explore rainforest animals and insects, highlighting the incredible biodiversity of the region. The rainforest is home to over 200 tree species, more than 300 species of birds, and mammals including jaguars, monkeys and tapirs, covers how they live and behave and their role in the eco system. As well as how the rainforest is a habitat for endangered species such as the scarlet macaw and harpy eagle.
