The Adventures of a Maya Archaeologist: Snakes, Scorpions, and Jungle Adventures – Now Released!

My book is now officially released, join me on an unforgettable archaeological adventure into the Maya rainforest. Encounter venomous snakes, roaring howler monkeys and the thrill of uncovering hidden ruins.

Unlike most adventure stories, this one is real, it is based on my first archaeological expedition. The excavation begins, pyramids, colourful wall paintings, and mysterious symbols slowly emerge from beneath the rainforest floor. But uncovering the past is only part of the challenge. I must also contend with jungle heat, biting insects, encounters with dangerous wildlife, and the realities of living in a remote camp.

Perfect for readers aged 7–11, the book can be enjoyed as a thrilling adventure or used to support learning about the Maya civilisation, rainforests, and archaeology. Set in Guatemala, the story naturally introduces a few Spanish words and phrases, helping readers to pick up a little of the local language along the way.

I would give this book 10/10 because I loved learning about the Maya artefacts that were discovered. The book is funny too because Dr Diane has to live with the creatures in the rainforest – especially the howler monkeys!
