Instructions and worksheets on the Maya number system for both beginners and advanced.
Description
The Maya were advanced mathematicians, using the number zero and place-values. In their numeral system, only three symbols were used to represent all numbers. A vigesimal (base-20) system was used and numbers above nineteen were indicated on the basis of their vertical position.
This downloadable resource explains how the Maya wrote numbers under twenty, as well as numbers in the thousands and will aid pupils to understand and solve Maya calculations. Age Range: KS2 in the UK, Grades 2-7 in the US and Grades 3-5 in Australia.
